Olena UUTAi

An internationally acclaimed Siberian virtuoso of the khomus (jaw harp), master throat singer, and pioneer of neo-shamanic "folktronica", Olena was rooted in northern Siberian animism, where she is widely recognized as a global cultural ambassador for Turkic throat singing and indigenous Sakha heritage.

Her discography showcases a versatile range of traditional and experimental fusion music. Following her work with the folk group Ayarkhaan, she debuted as a soloist with Uutai (2013). She gained widespread critical acclaim for her albums Peregrination (2014) and Hear Your Heart (2017), which explored meditative, spiritual healing sounds. Her 2018 album Legend featured signature compositions such as "Horse Races," "White Wolf," and "White Crane"—works celebrated for her extraordinary ability to imitate wildlife sounds through multiphonic throat singing (jieretii yrya) and jaw harp resonance. In 2021, she pushed into experimental territory with Dope, a collaboration with Moscow producers merging trance, ambient, and techno with ancient shamanic chants.

Her international breakthrough arrived in 2018 on Series 12 of Britain’s Got Talent, where her spellbinding semi-final performance of "Call of Shaman" earned millions of views and viral global fame, leading judge Alesha Dixon to nickname her a "Stallion goddess". Following this success, she showcased her artistry across major international television platforms, reaching the semi-finals of Italia’s Got Talent and placing eighth on Germany’s Das Supertalent.

Beyond television, Olena has performed at prestigious venues, including Moscow's Tchaikovsky Conservatory and St. Petersburg's Mariinsky Theatre, as well as international events like Germany's Ancient Trance Festival. Broadly regarded as "the face of the jaw harp," she continues to bridge ancient shamanic traditions with modern global audiences through her recordings, video masterclasses, and live performances.
