Over 200 of Hui’s compositions have been performed to date. His music has been performed and broadcast in many cities of the world including showcase at prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. World renowned musicians such as the Arditti Quartet, Helen Jahren, Pierre Yves Artaud, Okko Kamu, David Atherton, Sigmund Groven, and numerous famous Chinese musicians have interpreted Hui’s works in concert.
Selected music scores by Hui have been published by Hong Kong Harmonica Association, Hong Kong Choral Society, Vocal Music Anthology and Red House Editions in Australia, among others. Hui’s works have been recorded on published CDs by Composers and Authors Society of Hong Kong, HUGO Production, Hong Kong Composers’ Guild, Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, Hong Kong Guitar Orchestra, King’s Harmonica Quintet, Hong Kong Institute of Education, etc.
Hui is currently Honorary Composer-in-Residence of Hong Kong Harmonica Association and Composer-in-Residence of Hong Kong Guitar Orchestra. Hui was presented as the Featured Composer in 2012 Musicarama New Music Festival. His works have been composed for Hong Kong Arts Festival, Heritage Museum, HKCO, Taipei Chinese Orchestra, Kaohsiung Chinese Orchestra, Singapore Chinese Orchestra, Hong Kong City Chamber Orchestra, HKS, Hong Kong Philharmonic, Education Bureau, RTHK, World Harmonica Festival, Klee-Musik Weltweit, Shanghai World Expo, and Manhattan-Hong Kong Music Festival, etc.
Hui’s works and style were discussed in books on local art music, including Hong Kong Composers: 1930s to 1990s. The “Hong Kong Music Archive” in the Central Library of Hong Kong has featured him in the individual music documents exhibition of The Hong Kong Musicians Series during spring and summer in 2025.
